It turns out homeschooling has been really great for us. It has taken so much stress off our family. I figured it would do that for our son but didn’t realize how much stress it would relieve for my hubby and I! We aren’t as worried about him being exposed to germs, how he is being treated (we had one very bad incident with a senior school employee aware of B’s condition on the second day of school–hello?), and the effects of the stress of separating from us and controlling his fears all day.
And we get to do fun things like visit Crumbs and Whiskers! Crumbs and Whiskers is a ‘cat cafe’ in Georgetown. There are a lot of cat lovers in our family, but due to severe allergies, we will never have one in our house. So, for grandma’s birthday it was fun to surround ourselves with kitties for an hour!
I might have to get a cat just to get these cool stools and put sweet little beds in them! Just kidding hubby-we could put the kids in ours!
All the cats are from a rescue group and up for adoption and they have had 39 adopted since they opened 5 months ago! The cats were so sweet and they are already living with a bunch of cat-friends with people coming and going each day, so super well socialized!
You have to make a reservation ($15/per person) and sign a waiver. Kids must be 7 or older. They sell coffee and cookies from somewhere nearby or you can bring your own lunch.
If you’re in our area or just visiting DC, I highly recommend checking out for a bit with a cat on your lap….. so relaxing!
Happy Birthday, Rochelle!
